| Ballyseede Castle is an impressive three-story building. The Castle offers you the chance to appreciate History, while relaxing and enjoying a break from hectic life. The entrance is via a broad flight of steps, flanked by two Lions. Inside the lobby, Doric columns lead to an elegant wooden staircase of fine oak joinery, which is almost unique in Ireland . There are two drawing rooms with cornices of ornamental foliage plasterwork and marble fireplaces. The gracious Dining Room overlooks the front lawn with its ancient oaks and large pond. Continental cuisine as well as traditional Irish food is served here, complemented by one of the finest wine cellars in the region. The Blennerhassett Family was granted Ballyseedy and lands from HRH Queen Elizabeth 1 c1584. The location of Ballyseedy and Woods are clearly marked on Taylor and Skinner map of 1777. The name Ballyseedy was transferred by Arthur Blennerhassett in c1810: " Ballyseede Castle ". Arthur took a keen interest in improving the Estate, adding the Gothic North Wing in 1821, battlements and hood moldings, designed by J.F. Fuller, in 1880. Arthur married Nesta, only daughter to the "Knight of Glin" and their daughter Hilda was the last of the Blennerhassetts of Ballyseede 1967. It is now owned and run by the Irish/American O’Connor Family. The Library Bar displays the great-carved oak mantelpiece. Bedrooms are elegant and spacious and range from single, mini-suite to deluxe. Set on 30 acres of pasture and gardens, the Castle is located off the main Tralee-Killarney (N21) Road, and is within easy reach of several championship golf courses - Ballybunion, Waterville , Killarney, Dooks, and Barrow, the recently designed course for Tralee by Arnold Palmer. Famous attractions including the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula are only a short drive away. Deep-sea fishing, river fishing, horse riding, The National Folk Theatre, Steam Train and Aquadome are close at hand.
