Sheedy's Country House is a small family owned and managed house, situated in the village of Lisdoonvarna, on the edge of The Burren. Originally a stone farmhouse, John's great grandmother Alice opened the house to guests in the 1930's. John and Martina now take great pleasure in continuing on this tradition.
Set in its own gardens and amongst the breathtaking scenery of The Burren, Sheedy's Country House enjoys a perfect location. The original house dates from the 17th Century and is the oldest house in the village of Lisdoonvarna. Cliffs of Moher are just 8 minutes drive. Doolin, Aillwee Caves, Lahinch and Doonbeg Golf Courses are all within a short driving distance. The Burren Way offers the perfect opportunity to breath in the fresh Atlantic air and unwind the mind.
Dining is an essential part of your stay at Sheedys. We offer an A La Carte dinner menu in our small, informal Restaurant. We also offer a menu in our Bar each evening. John's cooking has been awarded 2 Rosettes for food from the AA's for the last 9 years. His cooking was also awarded "Best Breakfast in Munster 2004" from Georgina Campbell Guide. All dishes are freshly cooked to order and John sources as many ingredients as possible from local artisan suppliers. We grow a variety of vegetables and herbs in our Potager Garden. Our Restaurant is recommended by the Good Food Guide, Good Hotel Guide, Foders and Michelin. The New York Times, in an article on The Burren said "I had an entree of Black Sole so exquisite, I wonder if I'll ever eat fish again".
All our guestrooms have been individually designed and comfort is guaranteed... crisp white linen, fluffy white towels, luxury toiletries combine with thoughtful colour schemes and lavish soft furnishings to create an atmosphere of unhurried luxury. Our spacious Junior Suites have very cosy sitting areas and are exceptionally spacious, with luxurious bathrooms, including double sinks and separate shower cubicle and bath tubs.
