Grange House

  • Star Rating Guesthouse
  • Location Dungannon in Co. Tyrone
  • Open Arpil to October

Grange Lodge near Dungannon, predates the present owners Ralph & Norah Brown by the best part of  300 years !
The lovely old house has seen many changes since its origins in 1698 and the Browns arriving in October 1984.  Tastefully refurbished and extended, the public rooms are relaxing, full of character and very comfortable. The bedrooms are all fully en-suite and individually styled, complete with many important little extras. Set in 20 acres with over 3 acres of well manicured gardens and being family run, Grange Lodge re creates for its guests an aura of peaceful and gracious living from a bygone era. The extremely private nature of its facilities are ideal for that weekend away, special dinner party, small wedding or corporate business meeting. Comfort, true family hospitality and food as good as you are ever likely to enjoy go hand in hand at this exquisite Georgian retreat.
Very individually decorated bedrooms with fresh flowers and windows you can open should you feel like a breath of unpolluted Irish country air. All are non smoking, en-suite with bath and/or shower, telephone, ctv(satellite), and tea/coffee facilities.
Dinner may be available each evening except Sunday but must be pre-booked at the latest 48 hrs before evening of arrival. It's sometimes difficult to define Norah's style of cooking, but sufficient to say that her flair for presentation combined with her natural talent in being able to use some of the more traditional recipes, some of them indeed, handed down from her Mother, and with most ingredients locally sourced, enables her to set them before you in a very appetizing way .
Over the years, Norah has picked a number of top awards for her cooking, from winning a Gold Medal at Buxton in 1989, coming out on top of the cream of competition from England, Scotland and Wales, right through to 2002 when the AA awarded Grange Lodge the 'Best Breakfast Award' for Guest Houses in Scotland and Ireland . . . and it doesn't stop there. Whatever the occasion . . . a small Wedding, Corporate 'Day Away', Private Dinner or Birthday Party, menus are tailored to suit, with the emphasis on excellent food and very exclusively private surroundings. If you are staying overnight and having dinner, most guests meet up in 'The Den' or the larger Drawing Room complete with log fires during the winter, for pre- dinner drinks around 7.00pm followed by dinner between 7.30 - 8.00 pm in either of two dining rooms. The smaller of the two and indecently, one of the oldest rooms in the house, is really cosy during the Winter, whilst the other very much larger dining room overlooks much of the gardens and is particularly bright and airy for either breakfast or dinner during the Summer.
