  TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Depart U.S. for London
Welcome aboard your overnight flight to London. Sit back and enjoy inflight meals and services as you cross the Atlantic to start your vacation.

Day 2: London Arrival & Welcome
Land in London in the morning and, after immigration and baggage claim, take an independent coach transfer to your hotel on the north side of the city. The remainder of the day is free so that you may rest or do some sightseeing on your own. Whatever your interests, there is something for you - history, museums, art, fashion, people-watching, restaurants, clubs or theater. Get together with your tour director and fellow travelers over a welcoming drink to discuss your vacation. Then walk to a local restaurant for dinner. (D)

Day 3: Tower of London & City Tour
Start your day with a visit to the Tower of London. This majestic fortress contains a collection of towers and residences where English kings have made history. See ravens and Beefeaters as you walk through the complex and view the Traitors' Gate, the White Tower and the magnificent Crown Jewels. Drive through the city center to see the main attractions. Pass the elaborately decorated Houses of Parliament with Big Ben, nearby Westminster Abbey and bustling Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Street. The afternoon and evening are at leisure for further sightseeing on your own. (CB)

Day 4: Blenheim Palace & Cotswolds
Travel to Woodstock to visit Blenheim Palace, an 18th century Baroque masterpiece and birthplace of Winston Churchill in 1874. See priceless treasures of art in the Great Hall and Long Library and view the charming Water Terrace Gardens. Drive through the Cotswolds, a delightful hilly region with honey-colored stone houses, many dating back to medieval times, and stop for a look around one of the villages. Stop for a while in the center of Stratford-upon-Avon to take a walk through the town center and see some of the old black-and-white houses and Shakespeare’s Birthplace. Continue your drive through the midland region to your lovely resort hotel in Whitchurch. (CB, D)

Day 5: Chester & Lake District
Depart Whitchurch to take a walking tour of Chester to see the Rows, the medieval city walls and visit Chester Cathedral. Travel through the glorious Lake District to enjoy stunning views of shimmering lakes, gentle hills and valleys. Stop for a look around the quaint village of Grasmere before continuing into Scotland. Visit the Moffat Woollen Mills to see some quality Scottish woolens and drive to Edinburgh, Scotland's delightful capital city. This evening a Scottish Cabaret will introduce you to Scottish specialties with lively singing, dancing and humor. (B, D)

Day 6: Edinburgh Highlights
Explore central Edinburgh this morning and discover why it is called " Athens of the North." Drive through the 200-year-old "New Town" with its planned streets and elegant Georgian houses, homes of many famous writers and inventors. See sections of the Royal Mile where the old medieval houses are clustered. Tour Edinburgh Castle where you may see the Crown Jewels of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny. The afternoon is free for independent activities. On departures from July 30 to August 20 watch the spectacular Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle. (B)

Day 7: Scone Palace & Culloden
Travel north to visit Scone Palace, a few miles from Perth. The present palace was built in 1803 and contains excellent collections of antiques. The Stone of Destiny, on which Scottish kings were crowned until 1296, was kept on nearby Moot Hill. It is now on display in Edinburgh Castle. Near Pitlochry visit Edradour Distillery, Scotland's smallest, to see production methods and savor a sample. Journey north through the massive Grampian Mountains to visit Culloden Battlefield to see where Hanoverian troops defeated Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Jacobite followers in 1746. Continue to Nairn for your overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 8: Loch Ness & Glen Coe
See plenty of wonderful scenery today as you travel through the Highlands. Drive to Inverness and stop to take a look around the charming town center. Continue south along the shores of Loch Ness, a peaceful body of water surrounded by hills. Visit the Loch Ness 2000 Exhibition, which illustrates some of the "Nessie" myths while exploring important scientific findings. Drive alongside Loch Ness to Fort Augustus and on through majestic Glen Coe and across Rannoch Moor to reach Loch Lomond for more scenic views. On arrival in Glasgow take a short orientation tour. (B, D)

Day 9: Ferry to Ireland & Dublin
Drive south from Glasgow through gentle pastoral countryside to Cairnryan. Your British driver will leave you here but your guide continues with you on the short ferry journey to Larne. Meet your Irish driver and travel south along the east coast to Dublin. Check into your hotel and enjoy some relaxation time. The evening is free and your guide will assist with suggestions as to where to dine or find great entertainment. (B)

Day 10: Dublin Tour & Doyle's Cabaret
This morning tour Dublin city center to see public buildings, delightful gardens and lively shopping streets. View elegant Georgian squares lined with townhouses boasting colored doors. Enter Trinity College to visit the Old Library where the 8th century illuminated gospel manuscript of the Book of Kells is housed. The afternoon is at leisure for further sightseeing or shopping. In the evening head to Doyle's Cabaret for dinner and a lively show of Irish songs, dancing and storytelling. (B, D)

Day 11: Glendalough & Waterford
This morning drive through the scenic Wicklow Mountains to visit Glendalough Visitor Centre to learn about St. Kevin's 6th century monastery. Walk through the site with its round tower, church ruins and Celtic crosses. In New Ross visit the Dunbrody Emigrant Ship, a replica of the type of vessel that carried many people to America during the 1840s Famine. In the evening take a short walk around the ancient town center of Waterford with a local guide. (B, D)

Day 12: Cobh Heritage & Blarney Castle
Tour the Waterford Crystal Factory to see skilled craftspeople blowing, cutting and polishing the crystal. Also see an amazing range of glassware and trophies in the showrooms. Travel along the south coast to Cobh, a harbor town on the outskirts of Cork. Here visit the Cobh Heritage Centre, which traces the history of emigration from Ireland to the United States. Drive to Blarney to climb the steps of fabled Blarney Castle and kiss the "Stone of Eloquence." Travel through the mountains to your hotel in Killarney. (B, D)

Day 13: Ring of Kerry Tour
Today enjoy one of Ireland's most popular scenic drives, the Ring of Kerry, as the route winds between lofty peaks and a magnificent Atlantic coastline. Every bend in the road will present you with fresh views and there will be plenty of stops to enjoy the scenery and take photos. Drive through the remote villages of Cahirciveen and Waterville. See Sneem with its colorful houses grouped around a spacious green and pause at Moll's Gap and Ladies' View for vistas of the famous lakes before returning to Killarney. (B, D)

Day 14: Cliffs of Moher & Bunratty
Leaving Killarney travel to Tarbert where you take the ferry across the River Shannon. Drive via Lahinch to view the Cliffs of Moher. The impressive wall of rock rises to a height of almost 700 feet above the churning Atlantic Ocean and stretches for five miles along the coast. See part of the Burren, a region of limestone and drive to the outskirts of Limerick to check into your hotel. This evening a medieval-style meal and entertainment at 15th century Bunratty Castle will end your tour on a high note. (B, D)
