Photos of What you will see
Map of Ancient Ireland excursion & photos of what the various sites you will visit on your journey
5,000-year-old Newgrange, in County Meath, crouches on a rise just north of the River Boyne. It is the focal point for a ceremonial area and megalithic cemetery and was constructed around 3200BC. This means it is at least 600 years older than the Giza Pyramids in Egypt, and 1,000 years older Stonehenge. The tombs passage is perfectly aligned to mark the Winter Solstice.

I already have my accommodation booked in Dublin, can I still take the tour? Yes! You will just need to make sure that you arrive at Dublin's Ballsbridge Hotel at the scheduled time in the morning with the group. Please enquire for price without accommodation.
What if the tour dates listed don't suit me or I don't want to travel in a group? No problem! We will be more than happy to reserve a private tour for a more intimate experience. We can arrange these private tours on any date thoughout the year.
What level of knowledge is required? No previous knowledge is required; all we require you to bring is a healthy curiosity.
What is the usual age group? Usually our guests will be over thirty (but not exclusively) and there is no upper age limit, you just need to bear in mind there will be more challenging walks than on a standard Coach Tour.
How fit do I need to be? You'll need to capable of walking for a couple of hours at a time, we will be walking across fields and unsealed paths to get to some of the more hidden away monuments. If you have any concerns about your ability to keep up with the group let us know.
Is Journey Through Time suitable for single travellers? Absolutely! In fact the one thing about travelling in Ireland is that we are very inquisitive and chatty (nosy) by nature, so it won't be long before you're deep in conversation, like it or not!
What will the accommodation be like? We Stay in 4* accommodation that has been personally vetted by Barry or Micheál. If for any reason there is a requirement to stay in anything other than a 4* Hotel, we will bring this to your attention well in advance.
Is there a great deal of coach travel? We keep this to a minimum and to reduce ‘Coach-Time’ we select hotels as close to the various sites as possible. If there are long journeys, we make sure we find rest-stops en route.
Do I have to carry my own luggage? Not very often and even then not very far.
