The Glendalough & Wicklow Tour is an exciting opportunity to explore one of the most famous and enchanting places in Ireland – Glendalough, Co. Wicklow. En route, the spectacular hidden mountains and barren boglands at Sally's Gap will leave you breathless.
The tour starts and finishes in Dublin City and runs year round. Glendalough ("The Glen of the Two Lakes") is the site upon which St. Kevin founded a unique monastic settlement in the 6th century. Most of what remains of the settlement is in ruins. The exception is the Round Tower, built as a refuge from marauding Vikings, which, at over 1000 years old is remarkably well preserved. The site itself is set next to two clear water lakes beneath the sheer cliffs of a deep glacial valley. It is one of the most serene and beautiful places in all Ireland and it is easy to see why the monks picked it for a place of prayer and contemplation.
This is a full day tour (9.00am to 5.30pm) of the monastic settlement at Glendalough, Co. Wicklow which departs from and returns to a number of central locations in Dublin City.
