Shannon Town:

On the Map: Shannon is located in County Clare in the west of Ireland. There is only one major road in and out of the town/ airport – the N19. The N19 intersects with the N18/M18 roads connecting the cities of Limerick (to the east), and Ennis (to the north).

Best known as the location of one of Ireland’s major international airports, Shannon is the second largest town in County Clare. The town is located on the river Shannon and is bordered by Shannon International Airport and the Shannon Free Zone. Shannon is a relatively new town by Irish standards – only established in the 1960s, it has pretty much grown-up around the airport. This creates a unique community spirit, which is endorsed by the number and variety of community groups in the town.
