On the Map: Katoomba is the chief town of the city of Blue Mountains in New South Wales. The town is reached via route A32 from Bathurst (to the northwest) and from Penrith (to the east).

As the largest town in the Blue Mountains area, Katoomba is a highly-visited area. The famous Echo Point Lookout is located in Katoomba and features views of the Three Sisters and the Megalong Valley. The nearby Jenolan Caves – where limestone formations date back at least 340 million years – can be accessed via daily tours that leave from Katoomba.
