Rufflets Country House Hotel in St Andrews, is one of the oldest & best country house hotels in Scotland. This idyllic turreted mansion house, set on 10 acres of award-winning gardens, has been in the same family ownership since 1952. With an enviable location on the outskirts of St Andrews, you can enjoy the tranquility of the Fife countryside with the bustle of the town only 1.5 miles away. Rufflets offers a wide range of accommodation options, with 24 individually designed bedrooms. The elegant and spacious Terrace Restaurant is perfect for a romantic dinner for two or for a larger family gathering, and the hotel’s own garden supplies much of the fresh produce used in the seasonally changing menus. Golf, of course, is the main attraction in the area. St Andrews may be the acclaimed ‘Home of Golf’ but the medieval town also offers excellent shopping, art galleries, restaurants and museums. Regarded as one of finest hotels in St Andrews, Rufflets has been awarded 4 Red Stars by the Automobile Association and 4 Gold Stars by Visit Scotland.

Rufflets offers 24 individually-styled and tastefully decorated bedrooms. Unlike most of the larger chain hotels, rooms are different shapes and sizes, which adds to their individual character and distinct charm. Please note that the bedrooms in the main house are located on the first and second floors of the hotel and are accessed by stairs.

Terrace Restaurant:

Decorated with light faux wood paneling, the deep terracotta walls are enhanced by a collection of striking still life prints featuring the work of the Scottish Colorists, Cadell and Peploe.
The spacious restaurant has an unfussy, classic contemporary feel to it. Tables, clothed in crisp white linen, are arranged to take full advantage of the space and the views of the formal terraced garden. The fully upholstered, high backed chairs are designed for comfort. In the evening, sparkling glass, candlelight, fine china and floodlit gardens set the scene for a relaxed dining experience, whether it is for a romantic dinner for two or a larger group.
The 2AA Rosette Restaurant, which features in all the major guides, offers a daily changing, fixed price menu with ingredients sourced locally, some even grown in our own gardens.

The City of St. Andrews

On The Map: St Andrews is located on Scotland’s east coast. Dundee is less than 30 minutes to the north, while Edinburgh 1.5 hours to the south.

Poised and well-groomed, St. Andrews is the pilgrimage site for golfers around the world.  It is also Scotland’s oldest university town, founded in 1410. The town of St. Andrews is small—only three main streets and an open, airy feel with long stretches of sandy beach on either side of town. There are acres-plus of golf links in every direction.  The locals are proud of their town and it has a refined, old-fashioned ambience. Many original buildings have survived, and the castle and cathedral have been rebuilt to preserve their remains.  The main streets and cobbled alleys are lined with crooked houses. Medieval churches line up and meet at the ruin of the 12th century cathedral. St. Andrews is a light, seaside resort that feels busier and larger than it is.  More importantly, it is one of the most notable and historic towns in Scotland.
