Liverpool & The Beatles

When most people think of Liverpool, England, they instantly think of the city that gave birth to one of the greatest pop sensations in the history of music, The Beatles. Music is a huge part of the city’s culture and is celebrated annually by way of the Liverpool International Music Festival, a free event in Sefton Park. Other notable acts that Liverpool produced are Gerry and the Pacemakers, a Flock of Seagulls, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Echo & the Bunnymen and Ladytron, But let’s face it, The Beatles are Liverpool and any self-professed die-hard Beatles fans has Liverpool’s Beatles Story Museum on their bucket list.

About the Exhibition

The Beatles Story is a walk-through tour that spans the career of The Beatles from their original lineup as The Quarrymen to their explosion into superstardom to their demise and even beyond. An audio narration device enables the attendee to walk through the museum at his or her own pace and absorb the various sets. The Casbah Coffee Club, Hessey’s Music Shop, Mathew Street and the infamous Cavern Club are just a few of the stops included in this chronological maze that tells the story of the world’s most beloved Fab Four.

The replicated Cavern Club is just miles away from Liverpool’s real Cavern Club, which continues to host, live bands today as well as an international Beatles Week convention for those hardcore Beatles devotees. There is also a Magical Mystery Tour bus that goes for a two-hour jaunt around Liverpool, making stops at historical sites relative to the early days of the Beatles. There is no visiting Liverpool without overexposure to the Beatles. There is even a John Lennon airport!

About Liverpool, England

You don’t have to be a Beatles fanatic to appreciate all that Liverpool is. Liverpool has been the shooting location for some of the entertainment industry’s greatest films. The Hunt for Red October, In the Name of the Father, The Dark Knight, Chariots of Fire and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows were all filmed in Liverpool. Furthermore, the nightlife is thriving and there’s always something to do in the bustling city of Liverpool.

Liverpool’s native people are known as “Scousers” and have a thick dialect unique to that region of England. Scouse was derived from “lobscouse” a working class dish of Viking origin that is commonly feasted upon in Liverpool. Scousers are a friendly bunch known for their wit and outgoing personalities.
