Castle on the edge of a cliff in Ireland

St. Patrick’s Day Contest Entry: An Island of Experiences

There are many reasons why I would love to visit Ireland. Of course, I have heard many stories from friends who have visited and said how it was beautiful and all the fun they had which made me jealous making me want to visit even more but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to. Here are some of the reasons I would to visit.
The scenery of Ireland is something I would love to just take in. When I think of Ireland I think of farmland with open fields and hills as far as the eye can see with sheep grazing. Being a big nature lover these views triumph, for me, a busy skyline. Keeping on track with beautiful views I would LOVE to visit the Cliffs of Moher. Anybody that knows me personally knows that I am afraid of heights and there are only a handful of reason why I would subject myself to such fear and this is definitely one of them. The view has to be one of the prettiest in the world and I hope to one day see it for myself.
I would also love to go to Ireland to learn more about the culture and history. The Irish have a rich and prosperous Druidic and Celtic culture which are still being lived today with not much influence from the world outside of it. These strong values make me want to learn more and to see how they instill these traditions in the world today.
I have also heard that there are too many festivals to count that are celebrated in Ireland. I would love to be part of a festival and to see how they celebrate with dance, food and music. Of course, one main party/festival I would love to be a part of is St. Patrick’s Day. There is nothing quite like celebrating a festival where it is meant to be like Mardi Gras in Louisiana or Cinco De Mayo in Mexico and I’m sure St Patrick’s Day in Ireland will blow out any St Patrick’s Day in the USA.
Another big reason I would love to go to Ireland is to see the CASTLES! Till this day, I am infatuated by castles. I have never been inside one of them (Disney doesn’t count) and I can’t wait to see what one looks like from the inside. When I think of castles I of course think of the movies I have seen like Braveheart or Last Knights and the epic battles that may have taken place there. Taking steps inside of a castle where kings or royalty once were would be awesome. To see how they lived, where they slept, their dining halls and any battles that might have once occurred at these castles would be amazing to take in. Being a tourist, one of the castles I would most be enchanted with is the Blarney Castle and to take part in kissing the Blarney Stone.
Visiting Ireland would be a dream come true and would defiantly be a trip I would forever remember. Hopefully one day I will be able to sit down with a pint of Guinness in an Irish pub and talk to a local about the beauty of Ireland!
