In the fall I was lucky enough to study abroad for a semester in Budapest Hungary. During this time I learned a lot about myself and about the joys of traveling and discovering new cultures. Unfortunately, my finances were limited and I was not able to visit many of the places that I had dreamed of going. One of the places I really wanted to go was Ireland. I had several friends who were able to go and they said they had wonderful times and it made me very regretful that I was not able to go. Ireland seems like a wonderful place full of culture and intriguing people and hat is something that I would love to be a part of. I love going to pubs and I feel like Ireland will have a unique pub experience that I would not soon forget. Besides the pubs, I am also very interested in the natural beauty of Ireland as well as the food that I have heard so much about. Another reason why I want to visit Ireland is due to who I would take with me. My girlfriend is of Irish decent and is very involved with the Irish community. She loves to go to Irish festivals and you can even find an Irish flag hanging outside of her house. I know that this trip would mean so much to her and that it will be an experience that neither of us will ever forget. In addition to her being full Irish, I am also half Irish (my mother’s maiden name is McCloud) so I think it would be a good cultural experience for me to bring back to my family as well. Since I have returned to the United States from Europe I have been dying to return but I do not have to money to afford it on my own so I would love to get this experience to go back. I have been struck by the travel bug and now all I want to visit as many places in the world as I can and Ireland is one of my top destinations I want to go to. If I am lucky enough to be given this opportunity I know that I would live it to the fullest and get the absolute most that I can out of it. I want to drink in Dublin, see the Book of Kells, eat some potatoes, herd some sheep, dance a jig, listen to some bagpipes, and be merry with the Irish people. I am the kind of person who will not sit around on vacation and do nothing. I want to do as much as possible to get assimilated into the culture so I can return with as many memories and stories as possible. Ireland seems like a great place and I would love if you would allow me to be a part of your world. Thank you so much for your consideration and I hope I will be able to grab a Guinness with you in Ireland!
