I’ve always had a fascination with Ireland. I think my obsession started when I was a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when I was younger. One of the characters, Angel, came from Ireland, and I was always interested and curious about it. They would show flashbacks to Ireland on the show and it just looked so beautiful and interesting. I would love to go there to learn about some of the history of Ireland. One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to learn about the history of the places I go. I think going somewhere firsthand is the best way to get a history lesson. I never paid much attention in history in high school, which is a real shame, but I plan to make up for it in my adult hood by traveling any and every chance I get.
My eagerness to travel to Ireland only grew as I got older. On television shows and in movies, I’ve noticed that Ireland always looks absolutely breathtaking and I’ve always wanted to see this for myself. From the majestic rolling hills, the beautiful cliffs, and even the old buildings and architecture, I’ve never seen such beautiful scenery and I would love to witness everything with my own eyes. I think seeing all these things in person will really humble me and is certainly a once in a lifetime experience for me.
A lifelong dream of mine has always been to visit a real life castle. Because of my lifetime obsession with fairy tales and all things magical, I would love nothing more than to step foot into a real castle that I’ve only read about or seen on screen. I know Ireland is littered with castles all around and just to be able to visit one would be a dream come true. Although I know I’m going to want to visit as many as possible because, let’s face it, I’m not going to be able to help myself.
Another reason I would like to go to Ireland is that I love drinking and I know Ireland does as well. For this reason alone, I think we’d get along just fine. I’m a whiskey drinker, myself, so it would be great if I could tour a whiskey distillery in Ireland. It would be so amazing to actually drink Irish whiskey while in Ireland. Even though whiskey is my first choice of alcohol, I’d also love for a chance to visit a brewery. While visiting the Guinness brewery would be at the top of my list, I would love to visit other breweries as well to learn more and broaden my horizons about beer. Even if I didn’t have a chance to visit a distillery or a brewery, just simply going to an authentic Irish pub would be good enough for me.
Lastly, for some reason, I am enamored with Irish accents. I don’t know what it is about an Irish accent, but I can’t get enough of them. It would be absolutely heaven to travel to Ireland just to hear everyone speaking in an Irish accent. There would not be a bad day while I’m there as long as I speak to an Irish native.
