great Scotland vacation

byAudrey CoatsAuthentic Ireland
Your Hometown: Gloucester, MA

I would highly recommend Authentic Ireland for a Scotland vacation, in fact now would like to plan a trip to Ireland, just so I can use them again!! They were very helpful and accommodating and all the hotels they chose were terrific!

I wish the Edinburgh Hotel had been closer to the old town, but I did appreciate that being a bit outside did give us a quieter place to relax at the end of the day.

The Huntingtower Lodge in Fort William was the best one of our trip. We loved the location, view, the owners. Everything about it was amazing.

Thanks Authentic Ireland for taking a lot of the stress out of my vacation!

Wonderful Time

Your Hometown: Phoenix, AZ

Thank you Lonna! My husband and I recently did a 7 night driving tour through Ireland and had a fantastic time! We stayed in Dublin two nights at Staunton's On The Green, Kilkenny one night at the B & B Newlands Country House, two nights in Kenmare at Tara Farm's B & B, one night in DIngle at Castlewood House, and one night at the B & B Dunaree in Bunratty. We loved all of the B & B's and had such a fun time driving in the rental car! It is a little scary getting used to it, but once my husband got the hang of it we had no problems.Such a wonderful experience and we hope to do it again!!!

8 Night Chauffeur - Best of Ireland Tour

Your Hometown: St. Paul, MN

Everything about this tour was fabulous! Being chauffeur driven, we did not have to worry about getting lost or driving on the "wrong" side of the road -- or confused by the many "roundabouts." Our chauffeur/tour guide, John H. fro Pro Car, could not have been more accommodating or informative. Our BMW GT touring car was also very comfortable/upscale. Lonna from Authentic Ireland did a great job of taking into account everything that we expressed an interest in seeing ... and recommended a whole lot more! She was extremely knowledgeable, patient and readily accessible. The Merry Ploughboys and Food, Folklore and Fairies in Dublin supplied fine food and entertainment. I also highly recommend the Medieval Banquet Dinner at Bunratty Castle and the Hawk Walk at Ballyseede Castle. All of our hotel accommodations were first class as well. Dingle Crystal was also a great unplanned visit and compared favorably, if not surpassing, Waterford Crystal in quality. Overall, I cannot recommend Authentic Ireland more highly!

Thank you!

Family reunion

We chose Authentic Ireland because we had never been to Ireland and the website had great reviews. We wanted to self drive around Ireland and end the trip in Dublin to meet up with my family from England. Michaela was very helpful with selecting b&b's in Kilkenny, Kilarney and Doolin. The rental vehicle was included in our package also. All b&b's were clean with great Irish breakfasts and warm, welcoming hosts. I highly recommend taking time to see the Cliffs of Mohr and driving the Dingle peninsula. We also stopped at beautiful Glendalough, visited Cong and kissed the Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle. We enjoyed every second of the trip and highly recommend Authentic Ireland. Michaela certainly made planning this trip easy for us. Thank you!

10 day trip to Ireland

Well where do I begin from the pick up at the airport, everything ran so smoothly. We had 14 people in our party and all enjoyed this trip. From the tours to the hotels and our personal driver Kevin. I would definatly book with authentic Ireland again. Emma was so great to work with and helped me plan the itinerary. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Amaziing! Even after 4 trips

Amazing time! This was a trip we all agreed was something special, a mom and her 2 daughters. This was my 4th trip to Ireland, my mom's second and my sister's 1st. We all had different "must do's" while planning the trip and we came home very happy. I had to see Kilmainem Gaol, my sister wanted to stay in a castle and see Cong, a Quiet Man fan, and mom wanted tea at Bewley's in Dublin. Well., the Goal was toured an it is a great history lesson. Cong was photographed and it is a picture book town. The Castle at Lough Eske is a fairy tale and worth several day stay. Bewley's in Dublin is closed for renovations, so we might need to go back. It is a beautiful country with friendly people. Plan for rain but the sunshine is fabulous.

Fabulous Experience

We enjoyed a wonderful time in Ireland with the advice of Michaela, our Authentic Ireland agent, and Patrick McCarthy, our driver from Pro Chauffeur. Everything went smoothly and we saw a great deal of the country. Michaela provided an outstanding itinerary with beautiful sites. Patrick made each day enjoyable with insights on the local scenery as well as a history lesson. He was very knowledgable about the country and the history as well as the places we stopped to explore. His recommendations were spot on for dinner/lunch and sites. We were able to see much more with Patrick at the wheel than we could ever do on our own. The plush Van was a treat for us all!. We enjoyed the Irish hotels and the castles we stayed in- one note being the Balleyseede Castle is not at all handicap accessible nor easy for those who cannot navigate stairs or deep bathtubs. Touring the cities of Ireland is an excellent way to spend a days getting to know the country and the people. We used Authentic Ireland based on a friend's recommendation and could not be happier. When we return, we plan to use this site again as well as Patrick! We packed for cooler, rainy weather at the end of July and that was the way to go- though a few days it hit 70F and it was a heat wave! So much to see and do, one trip is not sufficient! Thank you!

My family just got home from 10 days in Ireland and it was amazing. I usually research and do a lot of the booking for our family adventures, but since none of us had ever been to Ireland I was thrilled to have found Authentic Ireland. I picked this company because of the great reviews I read, so now I'm here to spread the love. Our booking agent Maggie was fantastic, helpful and mindful of our needs. There were 6 of us traveling, me, my husband our two teenagers and my in-laws. Maggie totally understood that we wanted to tour and see a lot, but didn't want to be in a tour group. She also was very accommodating working with us booking our own flights and some hotel stays using our amex rewards points. We flew into Dublin and spent a few days on our own seeing the sights. Maggie hooked us up with hop on hop off bus passes and a Dublin pass, that gets you into a ton of museums and sights including the Guinness storehouse, and a fast bus transfer from the airport! Once done with Dublin we met our driver, Kevin Bourke and set off for 6 days of adventuring across the southern part of Ireland with Ennis/Shannon and a trip to the Cliffs of Moher as our final day destination. The Mercedes Sprinter van was so posh and has great big windows so even getting to your next destination is part of the show of seeing Ireland. Kevin was great at picking up on what we liked and the kinds of stops we'd enjoy. He pegged us as castle and whisky loving folks and gave us restaurant suggestions that were spot on in every city. We enjoyed the hotels that were right in the cities we visited. Our one night in a "castle" was an "experience" but we were glad that it was just one night as it was a bit remote and we really enjoyed spending our evenings strolling the cities of Killarney and Ennis and would have enjoyed the short walk into Dingle, but the weather was not cooperative. The suggested itinerary that Maggie put together was great, it gave us things to choose from right along the way. We were all especially glad to have Kevin driving as he negotiated some pretty windy tiny roads on the Ring of Kerry, around the Slea Head Route and definitely as we went through Connor Pass. The unspoiled nature of Ireland is stunning, even when it rains a few days, and our driver Kevin made dealing with the rain and our schedule feel easy. My only suggestion is pack for cold temps. I bought two pairs of pants, a wool sweater and a rain coat within the first day of arriving. The only people wearing shorts in Ireland are Americans! I'm a picky East Coaster and can tell you that this company will custom make a vacation you'll never forget.

Our 1st Trip

First and foremost...we LOVED Ireland. And the itinerary set by Authentic Ireland was perfect. They picked out fantastic cities for us to visit and gave us great suggestions for places to visit. And everything from picking up the rental car to checking into our B&B's was super simple and convenient. If we had one suggestion it would be to try and choose B&B's right in the city your visiting. Several of our B&B's were a bit of a drive from the local hot spots which made having more than one Guinness an irresponsible choice. And when you're in Ireland...you want to drink Guinness.

Heartfelt thanks to Michaela Cox of Authentic Ireland and Kevin Bourke of Pro Car and Bus for our 2 week chauffeur-driven tour of the West of Ireland. Michaela secured comfortable and private lodgings for our 5-member family (two grandparents in their 60's, single daughter and her son and her brother, my son), which were tailor-made to our requests. We were dead-center within the fun parts of Dublin for 3 days, then to an elegant castle hotel in Connemara (with pub dining as well as the fine dining room) for another 3 days and the second week launching from a great home out from Ennis, which is the perfect location to get to anywhere! (See photos on my Tripadvisor review)So the last 11 days Kevin would take us anywhere we wanted (which was great when we went to the abbey ruin which my wife's family served from the 1200's to the 1500's) but mostly he just surprised us. For instance, we crept through a chain-link gate to a real fairy fort, fresh with offerings of euros, dollars and jewelry in its central stump--far be it from us to take anything but pictures! (Not in Rick Steve's book, or anyone else's, for that matter.)Also missing from most guidebooks is the fantastic cliff walk at Kilkee, which my clan loved even more than the Cliffs of Moher! The other great thing was that Kevin found old friends on almost every day of our travels, so even though we weren't native, at least we knew someone who was!Because of Michaela's organization and Kevin's street-wisdom we were able to see and do twice as much as we would have on our own, but we slept late every morning (NEVER got out before 10 AM) and were never rushed!A partial list follows:Kilmainham GaolCarrick-a-Rede rope bridgeBelfast (take a Black Cab ride, you won't be the same!)Giant's CausewayBog People in the National MuseumBook of KellsDingleCliffs of MoherGalwayBallynahinch Castle, fly-fishingConnemara horseback riding, on beachKilkee cliffsLoop Head lighthouseBeehive hutsCong Abbey, town of the Quiet ManThe BurrenConnemara National ParkKylemore Abbey...and that is only partial! We will use Authentic Ireland and ProCar for our next Ireland trip, hopefully soon!

Great trip

We found the 11-night package on the website and it was 90% of what we already wanted to do. That was great! The price was what we expected to pay and, even better, the trip was further customized to our budget, additional locations or attractions we wanted to visit. The vouchers were accepted by the B&B's without a problem. The only glitch we had was picking up the rental car. It seems that, despite having our voucher/confirmation to pick up the car (in Dublin) at one location, once we got there, the car pick up had been changed back to the airport (we were on the south end of Dublin - the airport is north of the city). So, another taxi ride later, we got our rental car, and had no further problems with that. Directions to the B&B's could have been more "informative" as we had to call each location to get additional landmarks to find them. The GPS (brand new) that we brought was of little help - I guess, in Europe, they don't use house numbers in their addresses! GPS coordinates were not overly helpful either. Luckily, we had bought an inexpensive cell phone in Ireland to use while their (our plan did not cover Ireland). Overall, a great trip, fantastic scenery.

Lauren was fabulous helping with our trip. I usually do my bookings by myself but decided to let Lauren and Authentic Ireland do the bookings. I told Lauren I wanted high end accommodations. I received numerous emails from Lauren explaining facts to know about Ireland- driving different side of the road, etc., tipping policy for the country, appropriate clothing to bring, what to expect from the weather. I also received many emails explaining what sightseeing to do on each day of my trip. That made it easy to travel from each night stop. We stayed at wonderful places. I asked for castles and they were fabulous. Hotel and estates were breathtaking. The only stop that was not up to expectation was the last stop- Highbury House. Very very hard to find as on a main highway. Although Rosemary and Jack were quite friendly and everything was clean, it was way below the other stops. Our luggage wouldn't fit in our room(we only had 2) and it definitely was not high end. Luckily, that night, we came late and left out of Shannon leaving Highbury House at 6 a.m. All in all, I would highly recommend Authentic Ireland. Great trip.

Amazing Ireland 'Road Trip'!

Your Hometown: Toronto, Canada

First off, thank you Shannon for making all the necessary arrangements for an awesome trip! Everything worked out beautifully! The flight, hotels and car rental. Aer Lingus airline was amazing especially because it flew direct. Each of the hotels were awesome! Other than the castle hotel on the way to Galway, they were each located in the heart of the cities. We ended up upgrading to a medium size vehicle (VW Jetta) which worked out perfectly because we had large luggages and other bags to lug which all fit in the trunk. The first hotel (Brooks Hotel in Dublin) was extremely accommodating as our flight landed in Dublin at 5:30 AM. Our room wasn't readily available but they stored our luggages and we were able to go to their basement lounge area full of sofas where we slept and rested for a few hours. By the time we woke up, our room was ready! We decided to do our own road trip (cheaper)...started at Dublin for a night then to Ballynahinch Castle hotel on way to Galway...my favourite!!! Then to Galway, Killarney, Kilkenny and back to Dublin airport - 6 nights/7 day trip. Did some sightseeing en route...Cliffs of Moher...Blarney Castle (kissing rock), Gap of Donloe, Ross Castle and of course, hit a few pubs here and there. The people were so very friendly!! All plans ran smoothly, never felt rushed, took our time getting to places...thank goodness for the Tom Tom GPS!!! The only thing I would prefer not to do again if I had a choice was to drive. It was fine in the country but a bit stressful in the cities. It wasn't the worse experience and you do get used to it but again, if I had a choice, I would prefer not to. However, the overall experience was AMAZING!!! We're already talking about going back...

Awesome Aunties Adventure

byDebbie LeamingAuthentic Ireland

My mother and her sisters life long dream has been to travel to Ireland. As they are all in their prime (70, 72, 75 & 78!) we decided that Summer 2016 was the time to go! In January of 2015 I contacted Authentic Ireland and was introduced to Con Jager. With his guidance we planned a this trip for an entire year. Nothing was left to chance. I read every guide book (buy Rick Steve's guide book!) and hours of internet searches and drove Con mad with email, but he was so patient, and so knowledgeable that eventually the perfect trip evolved. This was NOT easy! We had a few special needs (wheel chair assistance, dietary concerns, etc..) Con was a Super Hero. Nothing I threw at him phased him, he instantly had it covered. Five months before departure (seven months AFTER we started planning) another Aunt of mine decided she would like to go also. That meant another room, upgrading our car, purchasing additional tickets for all the attractions, and events we had already scheduled. I was hyperventilating, and Con didn't even raise an eyebrow. He just activated his Super Powers and made it all happen. We went with a private Chauffeur driven tour. Con booked ProCar Chauffeur service for us and we could not have been more pampered! Our driver was adorable (KEVIN!) lol my aunts & mother wanted to adopt him! He was so patient, so kind and so skilled there were no worries on my part placing all our lives in his hands. I know this review is for Authentic Ireland, but I had to give a shout out to ProCar, don't hesitate this is the way to travel. The people of Ireland, the land, the stories, the history, it was all amazing and it was all made possible for my family via the efforts of our SuperMan -Con Jager at Authentic Ireland. This is the premier travel company for all things Ireland.

Irish Self-Drive Vacation

Your Hometown: Gainesville

our family trip to Ireland in July was wonderful. It was one of the most enjoyable vacations we have had. Thanks to Lonnie for helping with a great trip plan. We had a fun time driving both in Dublin and throughout the country roads. The trip itinerary was perfect, highlighted of course by the majestic Cliffs of Moher, but the restaurants, pubs and city, town and village communities were so much fun. The choice of hotels, B&B, and castle hotel was an enjoyable experience to remember. It does already feel like we must return to either revisit some of the beautiful sights seen or visit others that we missed. The only issue was finding parking at the hotels that had no available parking within several blocks of the site. That did make for about the only anxious moments of the trip. Otherwise, the friendly people, beautiful scenery, and very pleasant accommodations made this a trip of a lifetime.

Thank you...this was our first trip together alone in 27 years--we'd always gone on trips to see family, or traveled with others. I'd never been to Ireland, and my husband's only trip was a golf journey in the north. This was just for us to see what we wanted, and do things that really interested us--all down south and along the coast. My husband did all the driving, and it was an adventure to be on the left, with a left handed 5 speed gear shift and a map with THE tiniest print, but he triumphed. We'd asked Authentic Ireland for suggestions about accommodations and sights to see, and the results were terrific. We LOVED our B and B experiences, and the suggestions about cool towns, outdoor activities, and historic sights to visit were spot on. I'm ready to go back and we'll be calling Authentic Ireland for their ideas and suggestions. Thank you for the very cool vacation!
