My boyfriend has always dreamed of going to Ireland, so for his 40th Birthday, I booked up the most magical trip of a lifetime. We used Authentic Ireland to book our vacation. Maggie was amazing, and answered all my emails and questions, and even helped my mother plan a special surprise for us on his actual birthday evening at one of the hotels. I researched so many companies and found nothing but positive reviews from this company, and would recommend if you are traveling to Ireland- that you must book with them. I gave Maggie my "must see" list and she planned the perfect route with suggested sight seeings, pre-booked our Giant's Causeway Tour (which is a must see and do) and picked out the most amazing castle/hotel stays. We wanted to stay in several castles- the Ashford including and Maggie made it happen!! She emailed me everything which I printed off and it made out vacation stress and hassle free!! Cannot thank you enough for putting together the best Birthday Holiday for us!! We had a wonderful time and are already dreaming of going back!!
Our Vacation was outstanding. The hotel (City stay St. Augustine) in Dublin was centrally located to everything we wanted to visit. The staff there was courteous, and helpful. Our visit to Roscommon was grand, and our stay at Gleeson's B & B was also nice with great food.Authentic Ireland did a great job setting everything up, and making our vacation worry free.A million thanks to Lonna a job well done.
5 days in Ireland
Authentic Ireland was referred to me by a customer/friend of mine....and... i am so glad he did. We worked with Shannon, one of the representatives, and i couldn't be more happy with the experience and expertise that she had regarding details of our trip. I told her when we were arriving and leaving Ireland, what were the "must do" things during our stay, and what kind of accommodations we wanted to stay in. within a day or two, she had a full trip package, with other recommended things to do while there, sent to my email. the price was very reasonable, and after going on the trip, i appreciated the fact we used Authentic Ireland to get everything set up. kudos to the site and staff, especially Shannon. anytime i had a question, she had an answer. regarding car rental, electricity usage, what kind of money to keep on hand, anything... she was so much help. thank you so much!, you made our 20 year anniversary "holiday" that much better! the only thing i can even think about regretting, was that we didn't spend enough time there we spent the previous week in London, and think we should have cut that shorter and spent more time in Ireland... but.... that can be fixed by another visit! thanks again! your friends in Pennsylvania!
Had a great experience working with the Authentic Ireland associate! I probably asked 9 million questions (this being my first international trip I'd planned), and patience and courteousness definitely describes the person that personally handled my account. The trip was great as well, including an itinerary that was well chosen, then tweaked for us. Rental car was indeed perfect for our crew that was traveling, as well as the accommodations arranged for us. I'm more of a researcher, but the website definitely put me leaps ahead with suggested places to visit at our lodging locations, as well as places to stop along the way.One of the only things I would have done differently was the transportation for our time in Dublin. I was so glad that we did not rent a vehicle for Dublin, but the sightseeing bus tour passes were not the most convenient for our purposes, in retrospect. We would have been better served with normal city bus passes. I also would have passed on the castle stay in our trip, but perhaps we just caught them at a bad time, as everything was great there, except the smell of cat urine just on the outside of the side door near our room.Authentic Ireland definitely impressed both myself and the members of my family that joined us on this trip! Definitely recommend them! Really great trip and a good price!
Wonderful First Trip to Ireland
This was our first trip to Ireland. You guys did a wonderful job of taking care of all of the details in regards to hotels, sites to visit with passes and car rentals. Each hotel and bed and breakfast was wonderful. All establishments offered breakfast in the morning. They all had WIFI. After spending 2 days in Dublin we left for the west coast in the car we rented. We spent the next 6 days traveling around the west/southwest part of Ireland. Maggie was the person that we dealt with at Authentic Ireland and she was great- she noticed that our hotel on the last night was over 2 hours away from Shannon airport so she moved us to a closer location... and what a location a 5-star castle!! There are no other words then amazing!! When we come back which we plan to do... we will be staying there.
The company did an outstanding job of arranging our circumnavigational tour of Ireland and Northern Ireland over a period of 17 days. We did the driving ourselves with an upgraded rental car, which offered the utmost flexibility in sightseeing destinations and route options. Our accommodations were in a combination of country homes, B&Bs, hotels, and a couple of castles.. Even the weather generally cooperated over such an extended period of time; only one day and one evening of steady rain that interfered with our plans. Overall, it was a delightful vacation that encouraged us to return for catch the attractions we didn't have time to see. There were only two quibbles we would mention. First, some of the driving directions left a lot of details out, especially in trying to get through larger towns and cities, such as Galway. More details would have saved us lots of time. Second, we very much enjoyed every place we stayed with the exception of the Lissyclearig Thatched Cottage in Kenmare. Unlike all the other places we stayed, our hosts' main concern was saving money and doing everything on the cheap. No heat in the rooms despite a chilly, rainy night and two cloudy days -- very uncomfortable! No WiFi connection (the only place not to offer it during our entire stay in the country). Even the breakfast was second-rate. Few choices on the buffet table and canned fruit instead of the fresh fruit we received in every other location. Might be time to drop this inn from the inventory! Otherwise, a great trip that we would do again through Authentic Ireland.
We adored the Emerald Isle!
My husband and I had been planning to visit Ireland for over 12 years - even before we were married! This year, we bit the bullet and took the plunge for our 10th anniversary. What a fabulous, enjoyable time. All of our accommodations were top notch (LOVED the 5* Hayfield Manor in Cork!) and comfortable. The sightseeing ideas provided by our amazing helper - Catherine - were well suggested and helped us plan our routes. We went 'off plan' regularly in order to explore and yet were able to stay on track with the ideas provided in our travel itinerary. The service provided by Catherine, and her ability to answer all my questions and listen to my enthusiastic chats, made this trip one in a lifetime. As a daughter of a commercial airline pilot who married a former missionary who lived abroad and traveled extensively, we have to say that this trip was the best ever. The plans, the reservations, the suggestions and the timeline were so helpful. We did not feel rushed or stressed and all our stopping spots were terrific! THANK YOU Authentic Ireland - we cannot wait to return!!
Ireland holiday - A WOUNDERFULL TRIP
We had a a drive yourself tour booked with a lovely lady Maggie at Authentic Ireland. We would highly recommend her & her company. The package she put together for us was fantastic, & suggested sights to see were amazing.THANK YOU 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Maggie was wounderfull in her corespondent emails as we are in Australia. The package that was put together was fantastic. All the vouchers for car hire, accommodation were great as I had them in a folder which made out trip hassel free. All accommodation was A1 & having the vouchers made booking in a breeze & were greeted with a smile. Travelling Ireland, we recommend this lovely country, it is full of history & spectular sights. All accommodation included beautiful breakfasts which was a good start to the day.MANY THANKS MAGGIE ON A WOUNDERFULL TRIP WE WILL REMBER IT FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES

Our 50th Aniversery trip
What a fantastic way to celebrate 50 years of marriage. When I first spoke with Michaela Cox, to begin planning our 14 night trip, I was overwhelmed; in no time at all we had a remarkable plan in place. We stayed in most B&B's for 2 nights, each one was unique and charming. All our hosts were wonderful and helpful, and we so enjoyed the self drive way of travel. Each day was spent exploring new sections of "The Wild Atlantic Way," and in the evening we enjoyed the local sights.I must say, traveling with out being to structured allowed us the time to explore whatever we found along the way. We visited so many unexpected castle runes, off road "Goat" trails leading to isolated beaches, the sheep ferry dock to the BLasket Islands and a hike to Sheep Heads remote light house. We even had time to take in a cattle sale in Connemara. The weather was so unexpectedly beautiful with the exception of one stormy morning along Slea Head Way. However, what better way to see this majestic coast of Ireland than in gale force winds, and rain pounding on you from every side. Oh yes, driving was an adventure in it's selfThank you so much Michaela for all your expert help. Ireland is calling!
We had the privilege to work with Aisling McMahon while planning our Ireland Trip. My husband and I had an idea of the things we wanted to see while in Ireland. Aisling arranged each nights (7) stay and our rental car for us. I created a book with all the vouchers and paperwork we would need while there and it was so easy at each stop. Everything is absolutely breathtaking there. We met such wonderful, kind and friendly people on our journey throughout the country. I would recommend traveling to Ireland, AuthenticIreland.com and Aisling McMahon as your travel agent. We were so blessed with the opportunity to travel to Ireland and miss it greatly!
We had a wonderful trip. Every detail was taken care of for us. We loved the experience of the self drive. All the bed and breakfast were fantastic. All of the people were very kind and so accommodating. We will use Authentic Ireland for the next adventure. :)
I would definitely recommend Authentic Ireland
Catherine Burke-Gunvalsen planned the absolutely perfect trip for my daughter and I. The places she booked for us, Staunton on the Green, St. Judes (in Galway), Celbridge Manor and best of all Clontarf Castle! All were absolutely fantastic and each included breakfast which for us was quite delicious and filling!! Each place, the people were absolutely fantastic and bent over backwards to make sure that we had every need taken care of. Celbridge Manor even went so far as to prepare a special sandwiches, yogurt and fruit because we were leaving earlier than breakfast! Catherine was always reachable and helped to make this trip quite memorable for us! I would definitely recommend Authentic Ireland and especially Catherine as the exact right person to make the arrangements!
Best Trip Ever!
Worked with Michaela Cox on the planning of an 8-night fly/drive trip. I pretty much knew the areas I wanted to stay in and the sights I wanted to see. With Michaela's expertise we were able to refine the # of nights at each location to accommodate my interests. The hotels were beautiful and clean and the breakfasts at each hotel were fabulous. Everything went seamless from checking into the hotels to the car rental process/return. The country is gorgeous, the people are happy and friendly, and the food is fresh and amazing. I highly recommend using Authentic Ireland. Michaela Cox: A special thanks to you for making this my favorite vacations ever!!!!
A rewarding experience
Based on the many positive review of Authentic Ireland, we decided to use this agency to help with our travel plans to Ireland. And we were not disappointed! All arrangements worked out perfectly. We booked an 8-day self drive trip. Our lodging and itinerary worked out perfectly. We worked with Robin who helped us refine our trip to meet our budget and interests. We were very pleased with the lodging locations as each was beautiful, unique and charming with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfasts at each hotel/castle were fabulous and delicious , too.The car rental process worked out well and we ended up with an upgraded car, as well, which was more comfortable in spite of it being a bit larger making us even more caution when driving the narrow roads of Ireland. We thankfully did not have any driving "incidents", but found it extremely helpful to have several "back seat drivers" in the car to help navigate the different rules of the road in Ireland. Also a Garmin/GPS unit is a must when traveling in Ireland, and we are pleased that we had brought one with us .We appreciated the freedom of being able to drive, stop, tour and work our way to each new lodging location on our own time frame. It was awe inspiring to see the historical castles, abbeys, gardens, monuments and ruins. And we loved the beautiful scenery of the countryside and coast lands. We found the Irish to be extremely friendly and courteous everywhere and it was delightful to be able to communicate so easily with all we met due to no language barrier.I would definitely consider returning to Ireland. On a second trip, I would also plan to travel/drive a bit less and, instead, settle into a place for 2-4 days to better enjoy the beauty and ambiance of the hotel/castle lodging as well as better explore the local sights of that area. Thank you Authentic Ireland for helping to make our vacation to Ireland an affordable, comfortable and inspiring adventure.Marie
The tour was arranged meticulously. The name of Catherine Burke-Gunvalsen must be mentioned in my review. She was the one who came up with excellent suggestions for our bus tour based on our interests. She gave us a lot of information which no doubt helped us in preparation for the trip. She set up an alternate flight plan for us, which was a direct flight into and out of Dublin, arriving a day early for the tour. There were five instances where she had a driver meet us and take us to the appropriate destination. Everything worked perfectly, and made our transition to and from the tour very smooth and enjoyable. We are thinking about going back in the next year or two, and if we do, we will certainly arrange it through Catherine Burke-Gunvalsen. Thank you so much, Catherine. The guide, Liam Murray, was an excellent educator and, fortunately, has a great sense of humor. On top of it, he took care of every tourist in a fatherly manner. The hotels, overall, were of higher class. The food served in designated places was to everyone's taste. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
I can't say enough good things about my experience with Authentic Ireland! I worked with Catherine Burke-Gunvalsen to curate the perfect trip, and from our first interaction, I could tell she truly cared about every detail of our Honeymoon. I reached out to AI with an idea of what we wanted to do, but she was able to help us really choose the areas we wanted to visit over the course of our trip, and gave us some great insider insight about places we should visit and things we should do during our time in Ireland. All of the hotels and B&B's we stayed with were very nice, clean, and had superb customer service, and ALL of the breakfasts were delicious! Of all the overnight accommodations, I would recommend that EVERYONE who goes to Dublin should stay with Clontarf castle. They were so welcoming, went over the top to upgrade us and treat us like royalty, as they knew it was our honeymoon.Thank you Catherine & Authentic Ireland for all of your help in making our Honeymoon wonderful, and magical, and truly a trip we will never forget!!
We have recently returned from our incredible trip to Ireland. We booked a 7 day private chauffeur & hotels package through Authentic Ireland & the itinerary was perfect. Our driver, Patrick McCarthy was fabulous- not only a great driver but an excellent tour guide and historian as well. We couldn’t have asked for a better ‘driver’. Patrick well exceeded our expectations and gave us many options day-to-day as to what we would like to do. His suggestions were spot on for our likes and interests. We had considered doing a bus tour but decided a private driver was a better idea, and was it ever! We saw so much each day, and probably could not have fit anything else in to our allotted time there. The castles, museums, abbeys, and countryside were all spectacular sites- we look forward to returning to see the rest of Ireland that we didn’t have time for, and hoping Patrick will be our escort!
We traveled to Ireland on the last week of September 2016. Everything was as wonderful as we had hoped. Having submitted a list of possible highlights to Shannon in Vancouver, and having demanded a ridiculously too few number of days to enjoy these highlights, we were provided with an itinerary that encompassed as many sights as possible. The hotels were well situated and very nice and the vouchers for tourist sights worked without hitch. Our chauffeur was excellent from Pro-Car. Pat drove us about safely and without a hitch while providing excellent commentary and history. His suggestions throughout the tour were 'spot-on'. The Guinness Storehouse, the Trinity College with the Book of Kells, Newgrange neolithic tombs, the Black Taxi Tour in Belfast, the Giant's Causeway, the extra 'Troubles' tour in Derry, Slieve League cliff, hiking on Mount Errigal and Kylemore Abby were all fantastic. The many pubs and stores and other various sights in Dublin and Galway were also very nice. Our only complaint was that we tried to do too much and did not have enough time. Thank You Authentic Ireland.
We had the trip of our dreams visiting Ireland with Lonna's excellent planning. It was the best vacation we've ever had. We so enjoyed exploring Dublin, the southern back roads with the breathtaking scenery and every one of our delightful accommodations. I still can't get the smile off my face. The itinerary was perfect in the time we had to spend which only makes us want to go back to see the things we missed. Thank you so much for making this a trip we will never forget.
